"Smudge"

Last night Hunter called and Smudgie went to him......

After a hellish week of our girl having undiagnosable neurological symptoms (frustrating all the vets and professionals that tried to help), Smudge fell into a coma and passed away.
To let her go was unimaginably hard....like losing part of Hunter all over again.

Some of the highlights of Smudges remarkable life:

• A good friend and breeder Ann Atkinson from Ca. sent this darling little 11 month blue bitch as a gift to a very sick 7 year old boy.The bond and love between them was immediate and strong.
• When Hunter was 8 years old he put his first AKC agility title on her (under the guidance of Dee and Jill from Over Rover Training Center).
• When Hunter was 11, he and Smudge where featured on the National kids TV show "Zoom".
• Smudge stayed by her boy thru 4 relapses of Wilms tumor, 13 surgeries, and 2 stem cell transplants.
• The little blue dog mourned his death in July 2003.
• In Dec.2003 Smudgie was awarded the American Red Cross Animal Heroes award.
• Smudge taught many new kids and adults to love the sport of showing dogs....being their "first time in the ring" teacher.
• In May of 2007 at age 10 years Brian Hyde handled her to finish her Altered ASCA Championship.

           
Thank you to all who loved her.
She is where she wants to be.
